How to be a Natural Human

One World, Without Borders

Natural Humanists consider all human beings to be their equals, and to be their ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’, in one huge global family.

They acknowledge the fact that the villages, towns, cities, counties, regions and countries where human beings live, and whether they live in urban, semi-urban or rural locations, can result in all human beings having different experiences of life, and in having different cultures, traditions and interests.

They celebrate these differences and recognise people’s wish to be proud of where they come from. However, they’re against any human being, from any particular part of the world, ever considering themselves to be superior or inferior to other people, or in any way discriminating against, or treating differently, any person or people, from any other location.

For example, although they may support somebody’s desire to publicly celebrate and promote their own village, town, region, county or country, they’re totally against any degree of prejudice against any other person or group of people who are not from that area, or are from an area or country which that person views negatively, as can sometimes be the case when somebody is a nationalist or regionalist.

They believe strongly in the socialist ethic of ‘from each according to ability, to each according to need’[i], which they believe should not just be applied to citizens within a particular country, but should be applied worldwide, to ensure that financial wealth and all resources are shared fairly between the richer and poorer people, regions and countries of the world, with the rich prioritising the essential needs of the poorest people, countries and regions, above their own wish to have non-essential ‘luxuries’. Indeed, they believe that maintaining the wealth divide between the world’s countries, regions and individual human beings, which is always a conscious choice, is hugely immoral.

They absolutely disagree with the immoral conservative ethic that ‘charity begins at home’, which is another way of saying that your poor and suffering, are of less value and importance to ours, even if, as is usually the case, their needs are far more severe, or far more urgent.

They believe in international cooperation between all countries, in all areas of life where this can be beneficial, financially, environmentally, or ethically, or where it can reduce unnecessary duplication. They believe that all countries should seek to communicate and work together frequently, including through alliances, conferences, multi-national political unions, global aid committees, and other such examples of mutually beneficial collaboration.

They believe that cooperation and collaboration should, wherever possible, be the ‘default position’ of every regional and national government, and, indeed, of every single human being on Earth, and that all human beings should always consider how they can help to meet others’ needs, as well as their own.
