Although Natural Humanists generally prefer not to make permanent changes to their natural bodies and appearance, some Natural Humanists believe in using temporary body art, when practicing social naturism, as a way of celebrating their own, and each other’s natural beauty, and their connection with all other species of living thing on the planet, with whom we all share a common ancestry.
This may involve painting images of natural flowers, leaves or branches onto the skin, or painting, for example, leopards’ spots or wild birds’ plumage onto their bodies, to celebrate human beings’ connection and unity with all other living things.
Couples, polyamorous groups or Natural Humanist Communities may choose to follow a particular theme in the design of their body-art, or each Natural Humanist may choose to express their own individuality in their choice of design.
They may choose to reserve the use of body art for Natural Humanist ceremonies, festivals or social events, or as a frequent or occasional expression of their individuality or unity, whenever they’re practicing naturism socially.
They believe in using environmentally responsible paints and usually prefer not to use commercial body-artists, preferring to nurture their own or each other’s individual artistic abilities, or for one member of a Natural Humanist Community to paint all of the other members of the community, as an act of kindness.
As always, Natural Humanists celebrate individuality, and difference, and discourage competitiveness, so value and celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of all artworks, and of all bodies, and value the contribution made by everybody who takes part, however they also value the fact that some human beings have particularly strong natural artistic abilities, and they celebrate the beauty and joy that such people can bring into the world.
