Natural Humanist Manifesto
1. We affirm the equal worth of every person.
No human being is more valuable than another. Our differences—of culture, identity, belief, ability, or origin—are sources of richness, not division. We belong to one global family.
2. We choose compassion as our foundation.
Kindness, empathy, and forgiveness guide our actions. We reject cruelty, exploitation, and violence in all forms, and we extend our circle of care to all sentient beings.
3. We honour freedom with responsibility.
Every person has the right to live, love, move, express, and decide for themselves, provided these freedoms do not harm others. Bodily autonomy, reproductive choice, and the right to a dignified death are essential expressions of human dignity.
4. We live in partnership with the Earth.
The planet is a shared home, not a resource to be consumed. We commit to living within ecological limits, protecting habitats, reducing waste, and designing systems that regenerate rather than destroy.
5. We build communities of cooperation.
Human flourishing depends on connection, trust, and shared purpose. We favour collaboration over competition, shared resources over hoarding, and communal wellbeing over private gain.
6. We practice equality in power and voice.
Democracy must be deep, participatory, and transparent. Decisions that affect people should be shaped by them. We challenge hierarchies that concentrate power and uphold systems that distribute it fairly.
7. We cultivate curiosity, honesty, and learning.
We value reason, creativity, and open inquiry. Education should nurture whole humans—emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Media and culture should uplift, inform, and connect rather than manipulate or divide.
8. We celebrate the full spectrum of human expression.
Bodies, identities, relationships, and cultures deserve respect and freedom. We embrace authentic beauty, diverse ways of loving, and the right to express oneself without shame or fear.
9. We reconnect with our natural selves.
We honour our instincts for play, movement, intimacy, and creativity. We reject shame-based norms and reclaim a healthy, joyful relationship with our bodies and emotions.
10. We act together to shape a better world.
A compassionate society is built through everyday choices. We commit to aligning our actions with our values and working with others to create communities, systems, and cultures that reflect the best of what humans can be.
Natural Humanists believe in using & celebrating technology, whenever it has the potential to meaningfully improve human lives, or benefit other species, or the environment, or to spread the Natural Human message.
