Who We Are

We are a community built on the belief that every person has equal worth, that compassion is the foundation of a healthy society, and that humans flourish when we live in harmony with one another and with the Earth. Our aim is to create a way of living that reflects the best of human nature: empathy, curiosity, creativity, and cooperation.

We exist to build a culture rooted in dignity, freedom, and ecological responsibility. We support one another in living authentically, caring for the planet, and creating systems that prioritise wellbeing over competition or hierarchy.

Constitution of the Natural Humanist Community

Preamble

The Natural Humanist Community is founded on the principles of equality, compassion, freedom, ecological responsibility, and democratic participation. This Constitution establishes the values, structures, and commitments that guide our collective life.


Article I — Purpose

The Community exists to cultivate a way of living that reflects the best of human nature: empathy, cooperation, curiosity, creativity, and care for all beings. We aim to build systems and relationships grounded in dignity, non‑violence, and ecological stewardship.


Article II — Core Principles

1. Equality

All individuals are equal in dignity and worth. Discrimination based on identity, background, belief, ability, or circumstance is prohibited.

2. Compassion and Non‑Violence

Members commit to kindness, empathy, and peaceful conflict resolution. Violence, exploitation, and cruelty are incompatible with membership.

3. Freedom and Autonomy

Individuals have the right to live, love, express, and move freely, provided these freedoms do not harm others. Consent and bodily autonomy are fundamental.

4. Ecological Responsibility

Members commit to sustainable living, protection of ecosystems, and minimisation of environmental harm.

5. Cooperation and Shared Wellbeing

The Community prioritises collaboration, mutual aid, and shared stewardship of resources.

6. Democratic Participation

Decisions affecting the Community must be made transparently and with meaningful participation from all members.

Membership is open to any person who affirms the Core Principles and signs the Membership Agreement.
